Ranger Services provides a full spectrum of landscape management services that focus on the long-term health of your landscaping.
Shrub Pruning
When it comes to pruning, timing is critical to ensure plant health and maximize next season’s blooms. Individual plant’s growth speed and site placement will determine whether routine pruning is necessary to maintain proper size. One or more of the following pruning methods may be needed depending on each site’s specific needs:
- Natural - Selective hand pruning reinforces the natural structure of the shrub while maintaining size or pruning for health.
- Formal - Some species tolerate shearing, allowing for clean crisp lines within your landscape.
- Rejuvenation - Pruning during the dormant season allows for the dramatic reduction of overgrown shrubs. Not all species can handle rejuvenation pruning, but for those that do it can improve overall plant appearance in the long run by encouraging fresh new growth.
Landscape Design and Installation
- Tree Planting - Bare root or balled and burlapped; we take care to plant at the proper depth and check for girdling roots during this critical step in establishing a new tree in your landscaping
- Landscape Installation - From individual plant additions to creating brand new planting beds - we specialize in selecting the right plant for the right site.
- Bed Rejuvenation - Tame overgrown garden beds, highlight existing features or create additional interest by bringing in fresh plant materials.
Landscape Maintenance
- Mulching - Top dress existing mulch beds or add new mulch areas to your landscaping. It’s easiest to top dress mulch in the spring before the perennials have leafed out
- Fall Cleanup - Cut back spent perennials, and prune shrubs at the end of the growing season. Wrap young trees and add wire fencing for winter protection.
- Spring Cleanup - Check for winter damage and prune as needed. Cut back any of the leftover winter interest (such as ornamental grasses, or sedum and hydrangea blooms).
- Hand Weeding - Detailed weeding in the perennial beds eliminates competition and allows desirable plants more light to flourish
- Annual and/or perennial planting – Create additional interest and fix “trouble spots” in your perennial beds, or add a pop of season-long color with the addition of annuals.
- Soil Amendments - Soil amendments such as worm castings, peat moss, or fertilizer can improve the long-term health of the landscape plants.
- Weekly, bi-weekly or monthly maintenance – Individually tailored to your needs, routine maintenance addresses the overall health and appearance of your landscaping. This includes any of the following: weeding, watering, shrub pruning, deadheading, fertilizing, rabbit control, planting, perennial division, and insect /disease control.
